NOTICE

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

MARCH 10, 2010

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN OF A GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF THE MAGIC CITY BOPPERS TO BE HELD AT 6:30 P.M. AT

THE KELLY INGRAM VFW CLUB, 1801 11TH AVE NORTH, BIRMINGHAM, AL ON MARCH 10, 2010.

AMONG THE BUSINESS ITEMS TO BE TAKEN UP AT THE MEETING ARE TWO PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CLUB

BY-LAWS WHICH SHALL BE VOTED ON SEPARATELY. THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

I. Article IV - Membership Dues, Sec. II presently reads:

"Dues for new members shall be as follows:

July 1 through December 31 - $35.00

January 1 through June 30 - $20.00"

Proposed that this provision be changed to read as follows:

"Dues for new members shall be as follows:

July 1 through December 31 - $35.00

January 1 through June 30 - $20.00

If approved by the Board of Directors, a special membership drive rate, which membership drive shall last no more than

60 days, for partial year membership - $20.00"

II. Article 12 - Amendments presently reads:

"The By-Laws and Policies may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present at any general or special meeting provided written notice of the proposed action has been given each member at least thirty (30) days prior thereto."

Proposed that this provision be changed to read: "The By-Laws and Policies may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present at any general or special meeting provided the notice of the proposed action has been given in the following manner at least fourteen (14) days prior thereto:

1) The notice is posted on the Magic City Boppers official website, and

2) The notice is sent by email to all members for whom the Membership Director has an email address, and

3) Written notice is posted prominently at the location of two consecutive Club dances."

These amendments are offered in order to provide more flexibility and to allow the Club to act more promptly to emergencies or any conditions that may affect the well-being and health of the Club. They would also allow the club to grow membership more aggressively. When the By-Laws were drafted, websites, email and other means of instant communication were not widely available. The change allowing direct electronic notice is more reflective of the world we live in today. Plus written notice will be posted at all the dances for those without email.
